What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a site stores on your device, or similar storage such as localStorage. They can remember a choice, keep a session, or help a publisher understand how pages are used. They are not programmes and they cannot operate your hardware. On this studio site we keep the set small on purpose.
Types we use
Essential. We store your cookie banner choice in localStorage so we do not ask on every page load. That storage is necessary to remember Accept or Reject. It does not advertise to you. The site’s pages, programmes, and contact form remain available if you reject optional cookies.
Analytics (optional). Only if you press Accept may we set a lightweight analytics cookie or equivalent to count visits to journal essays and programme pages in aggregate. We do not use this to build a marketing profile or to sell lists. If you press Reject, optional analytics do not run. Rejecting does not block navigation, forms, or reading rooms described on the site.
Cookie table
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Provider |
|---|---|---|---|
| pipeline-nodecore-cookie-consent | Stores whether you accepted or rejected optional cookies, so the banner can stay hidden. | Until you clear site data or we change the key | Pipeline Nodecore (first party, localStorage) |
| pn_studio_count (optional) | If you accept, a first-party token used only to distinguish repeat page views in aggregate studio statistics. | 6 months | Pipeline Nodecore |
| fonts.googleapis.com / fonts.gstatic.com | Delivers display and body type. May set or read cookies according to Google Fonts practice when your browser requests the files. | As set by the font host | Google Fonts (third party) |
How to manage or disable cookies
Use Accept or Reject on the banner. Both controls are equal; neither is hidden. To change a stored choice, clear localStorage for this site in your browser settings, or delete site data, then reload and choose again. You may also instruct your browser to block cookies globally or per site. Blocking all cookies may also clear the essential preference, which means the banner can return. That is expected.
Most desktop browsers offer a “block third-party cookies” control. Mobile browsers vary; look for site settings under the lock or share icon. We cannot remotely delete files from your device other than by honouring a new Reject choice for cookies we set ourselves.
Third-party cookies
Pages load type from Google Fonts and images from public hosts such as Unsplash and Pexels. Those hosts may set their own cookies or collect request metadata when your browser fetches the files. We do not control their storage. Their notices apply. We chose public image URLs so course and journal pictures are not bundled as tracking pixels of our own making; they remain third-party requests.
We do not embed social pixels, remarketing tags, or chat widgets. If a future journal essay includes an embedded third-party media player, we will name it here before it ships.
Impact of disabling
Rejecting optional analytics does not remove programmes, fees, the journal, or the contact form. You may see the banner again if you clear storage. If you block all cookies and third-party requests, fonts or images may fall back to system type and broken pictures; the HTML content will still be readable. Essential preference storage is the only first-party item we require for a quieter banner, not for using the site.
